On December 22, Ambassador Chen Chuandong and UNHCR Representative in Lebanon, Karolina Lindholm Billing, jointly launched a Chinese government-funded humanitarian aid project for displaced persons in Lebanon, implemented by the UNHCR.

Ambassador Chen expressed appreciation to the UNHCR and its partners, stating that the project is a practical step in implementing President Xi Jinping's Global Development Initiative in Lebanon, reflecting the friendship and shared tradition of mutual assistance.

UNHCR Representative Carolina Billing briefed Ambassador Chen on the agency’s work of assisting refugees and internally displaced persons, expressed sincere gratitude to the Chinese government for its generous support, and pledged close coordination with the Embassy to ensure smooth implementation of the project.

The project provides emergency humanitarian assistance to vulnerable displaced persons in Lebanon, including relief supplies such as sleeping mats, blankets, cooking utensils, water tanks, and solar lights, benefiting approximately 53,000 people from various groups across Lebanon.
