On November 27, Ambassador Chen Chuandong met with UN Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Khaled Khiari, to discuss the situation in Lebanon and strengthening UN support for the country.

Ambassador Chen reaffirmed China's  commitment to close collaboration with the UN to promote the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 by all parties and provide stronger support to Lebanon based on respect for the host country. Assistant Secretary-General Khaled Khiari commended China's positive role as a permanent member of the UN Security Council in international and regional affairs including the mandate of UNIFIL.
